
Associate Professor Sutee Anantsuksomsri, PhD
Director
Sutee Anantsuksomsri is an associate professor at the Department of Urban Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. He focuses his academic works on the issues related to urban economics, regional and urban development, complex systems, and geoinformatics. His current research explores how sharing economy contributes to urban sustainability in Thailand. In addition, he has conducted extensive research on the impacts of urban development on land values and land-use changes. His research has been supported by grants from Thailand Science Research and Innovation, the Sumitomo Foundation, SERVIR, NASA, and USAID.
Additional to his research and teaching, Anantsuksomsri has been the editor-in-chief of Nakhara: Journal of Environmental Design and Planning and a member of the editorial boards of several academic journals. He is also a council member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Regional Science Association International. He has served as an expert on the National Smart City Committee and worked as a consultant for national and international organizations such as the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand and the Asian Development Bank.
Prior to joining Chulalongkorn, he was a visiting lecturer at Cornell University and an assistant professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Waseda University. He received his Ph.D. and Master of Arts in regional science from Cornell University, a Master of Science in construction management from Northeastern University, and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Chulalongkorn University.

Associate Professor Kaweekrai Srihirun
Associate Director
Kaweekrai Srihiran is an associate professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) and Master of Science (M.Sc. in Computer) at Chulalongkorn University. His teaching includes Architectural Design and Construction. His research areas are Computer Technology in Architectural Design and Construction, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Heritage Information Modeling (HBIM), IoT, Digital Twins, and Computer Image Processing.
He has been a professional licensed architect in Thailand. His work includes ASA (Association of Siamese Architects) CAD committee (2005), ASA (Association of Siamese Architects) THAILAND BIM GUIDE working group (2015-2016), Head of the working group, Chulalongkorn university’s BIM projects, ACT (Architect Council of Thailand)’s Building Information Modeling guide working group, BIM Consultant for Thai Red Cross’s Office of Infrastructure Management and committee for Chulalongkorn University Physical Resources Planning.

Shusak Janpathompong, PhD
Associate Director
Shusak Janpathompong is a full-time faculty member of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. His teaching interests include site planning, urban landscape, green-blue infrastructure, urban design theories, resilience and multidisciplinary practice, and graphic communication. His research areas concentrate on urban space utilization, the impact of urban heat islands in the tropical climate and mitigation, urban landscape revitalization, and visual study.
Professionally, he has been a registered landscape architect in U.S.A. and Thailand. He established his practice in the U.S.A. and the People’s Republic of China for over a decade before joining Chulalongkorn University. With over 30 years of worldwide professional experience, his areas of expertise encompass physical planning and design on a variety of multidisciplinary projects ranging from large-scale landscape plans to site-scale landscape designs. Additionally, he has served as an expert consultant for government and private clients. He also lectured and instructed at Cornell University, Harvard University, Boston Architectural College, and Thammasat University. He currently teaches at the University of Tsukuba, Japan as a visiting lecturer.
Dr. Janpathompong earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (B.L.A.) with Honor from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Master of Landscape Architecture (M.L.A) at Cornell University, U.S.A., where he won the National ASLA Award of Honor for Excellence in the Study of Landscape Architecture, Master in Design Studies (M.Des.S.), Landscape Planning and Ecology from Harvard University, U.S.A. with Letter of Commendation: Outstanding Achievement under the funding from the Hideo Sasaki Foundation, and Ph.D. in Policy and Planning Sciences from the University of Tsukuba, Japan.

Assistant Professor Paron Chatakul
Associate Director
Paron Chatakul is an assistant professor at the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. His research interests are forestry, plant materials, and horticulture for landscape architecture. In addition, he teaches classes on interior landscape design and interior plant materials at the Department of Interior Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. His academic and research works focus on the applications of native plants on landscape architecture to increase biodiversity and restore local ecosystems.
In addition to teaching and research, he is the editor-in-chief of Sarasatr Academic Journal. He also serves as an instructor in several executive development programs such as the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion Executive Certificate in Environmental Governance, the Department of Industrial Promotion and United Nations Industrial Development Organization Certificate in Cleantech for Business, and the Right Livelihood Foundation Program in Leadership for Change.
Chatakul received a Master of Landscape Architecture from Chulalongkorn University and a Bachelor of Architecture in Interior Architecture (1st class honor) from Chulalongkorn University.

Yanin Chivakidakarn Huyakorn, PhD
Postdoctoral Researcher
Yanin C. Huyakorn started her post-doctoral researcher position with RUBEA in June 2020, supported by Chulalongkorn University Second Century Fund. While her research interests vary, from municipal waste management to urban gentrification, they focus primarily on the social scientific dimension involving urban poverty and its social capital attached.
Four years of work experience as a full-time lecturer at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University has inspired Yanin to explore more complex multi/cross-disciplinary theories and research methods, especially in spatial analysis, in urban studies. With RUBEA, therefore, she is assisting an area-based studies project related to the usage of public space by low-income people in such a way to gratify her latest aspiration.
As per her educational background, Yanin has completed her B.A. Social Sciences majoring in Urban Environment from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University; followed by an M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from a consortium of Aegean University, Central European University, Lund University, and the University of Manchester; and a Ph.D. in Spatial Planning and Urban Development from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. She graduated with merit and was a full-scholarship receiver in all programs.

Korrakot Positlimpakul
Researcher
Korrakot Positlimpakul is a researcher at RUBEA and a doctoral student at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. His expertise is in Geographic Information Systems. His research interests are in urban geography and the physical dimension of urban planning. His current research project is on the socioeconomic impacts of students on the dynamics of cities in Thailand or “studentification.”
